Hunter Valley Wine Tours

It was a fun filled day, with a small group of 12 making the tour intimate and personable. Mark was lots of fun and has a great knowledge of the Hunter Region and Wines. We did the full day Hunter/Gatherers tour and I highly recommend this, with plenty of wine tasting, food and sights especially the Two Fat Blokes own Deli, the cheese matching was a favourite. It’s great to rock up to a winery and know that you don’t have to fight the crowds and will have an intimate space to try the wines. A great way to explore the region for first timers or for people returning and wanting to discover new boutique wines.

My friends and I went on the half day wine tour with Phil as our guide. What a great introduction to wine tasting! The wineries we visited highlighted the true feel of Pokolbin, and we got a wide variety of delicious wines. Followed by our last stop at the Fat Boys Kitchen where Phil ran a wine and cheese matching session. Delicious! Homemade marshmallows and many other yummy foods and goods could also be purchased.
Cannot wait for our next visit, so we can do it all again!

Comfortable bus, great choice of wineries, plenty of buying opportunities. My girlfriend and I had a really great day on this tour. Each winery was expecting us, walked the group through the offering and gave us a great sampling of Hunter Valley wines. The tour was enhanced by also doing a cheese and chocolate pairing at two of the five stops. All the wine offerings were generous and if you’re doing this tour for the drinking you’ll get as much as you need. This really was great value for money and a fun way to spend a day at the Hunter.

This is the third time me and my husband have used two fat blokes tours and we are never disappointed! They are better than any other tour company we have used. We did a full day tour (Hunter Gatherer) as my husbands family were over visiting from the UK. The full day is fab, as you get a real variety of winery’s and they tend to avoid the big mainstream winery’s where you can just buy the wine from the bottle shops.
They also keep taking us to new winery’s which is great given we have been a few times. We went to some beautiful family run places and Two fat blokes clearly have a great relationship with them as we were well looked after. The full day tour includes wine and cheese tasting, chocolate and wine tasting and a lovely stop for lunch. You won’t get bored!
We have has Phil as our guide twice now, he is fabulous! Very well informed on his wines and knows a lot about the area. Above all, he extremely funny and made our tour that bit more enjoyable!

Highly recommend this company, and in particular BJ our guide, for an amazing day in the Hunter! I’ve been on wine tours in the hunter valley several times but none have compared to this one. The tour was a laugh a minute and really well organised. The wineries we were brought to were fantastic (and generous with their pours)! Cannot recommend them highly enough! We did the Two Fat Blokes snapshot (half day) tour. I knew nothing about wine tasting coming into this tour, yet I was made very welcome and learned an incredible amount regarding both the production and taste of wine. Brian was an absolutely hilarious, wise, and friendly tour guide, and really went out of his way for us. For example, it was raining heavily when he came to pick us up, and although we had agreed to meet at the gate, he drove into the estate to pick us up in order to save us from getting drenched. My partner and I are considering coming back to do the full day tour! Fantastic time.

We booked this tour to help our friend from the UK celebrate her birthday. It was a fantastic day from start to finish! Our tour guide Robyn was bright and bubbly, very knowledgable about all facets of the tour. She went out of her way to ensure that our day would be very memorable. All the wineries were in beautiful settings, with lovely staff and a very good array of wines and foods to taste. The grand finale for the day was when Robyn very kindly stopped the bus to allow our friends to take photos of a group of kangaroos in a paddock. That made an awesome day complete for us all.

The Hunter Gatherer Tour. 5 wineries, all of them sell only to their club members or at their cellar door so their wines are not available anywhere else and all of which made some really amazing wines. The absolute stand out was the first of the day, a semillon at Mistletoe, but every one of the others had something special to offer. Mark, the driver and guide, is a winemaker himself and was a fund of really interesting stuff about wine, the Hunter Valley and everything that goes with that combination. Lunch was provided in a winery from which the views were absolutely breathtaking. At the wine and cheese pairing, Mark arranged for my son, who does not eat cheese, to have a platter of antipasta instead; he really took great trouble to make us all feel welcome. Pairing chocolate with wine is not to everyone’s taste, but individually the wines and the chocolates were excellent. And finally, the Potter Brewery and some really good and unusual beers. This is a superb way to get a taste of the Hunter Valley.

Super trip even though only half a day. Phil the driver was kind, funny and knowledgeable. The best bit was back at the Two Fat Blokes deli for our third round of wine tasting with cheeses. Great choices provided there and then bought a reasonable priced ‘dinner box ‘ to eat later. Thanks to Jan for the lift to another winery!

A great day in the beautiful Hunter Valley… BJ was a wonderful host .. Small group tour was perfect for our group of 3.. The cheese and wine matching was a lot of fun .. Only just beating the chocolate matching.. Relaxed tour visiting great wineries , they are open to suggestion you just have to ask prior , but trust that their expert knowledge will ensure you see and taste the true beauty of the Hunter.. With plenty of time to relax and enjoy the views .. Lunch was beautiful .. Plentiful and the service at Audrey Wilkinson was a highlight .. Plenty of laughs ..value for money you will not be disappointed… We did the full day tour .. My friends 1 st visit to the Hunter and she loved it ( even as a non wine lover)

We booked this company based on the reviews and they didn’t let us down. There is a reason these guys are number one! Bryan picked us up nice and early to get cracking on our tour (9.12.16) from our hotel Pedens in Town for free. We then picked up one other couple. We were on the full day and they just on the half day and that was it! We knew they only take a max of 14 people so for it to be just 4 that was awesome. We are a young couple and they were much older but also lovely and we all got along well, especially after a few tastings. Bryan was so friendly and knowledgable he was actually the highlight of our day! Our other highlights as many on here say were the cheese and wine tasting at De Iluiis – Bryan recommended the Semillion and it really is the best in the world so we took a bottle of that and some delicious cheese too! My only regret is not buying more!! The lunch at Audrey Wilkinson was just the two of us by that point and they bought out a lovely little picnic for us and they even gave us a whole bottle of wine. Sitting up there was lovely! Bryan even took lots of couple photos of us being posey with the view! The afternoon was a slight drunken haze visiting several more vineyards particular favourite was Gundog Estate. I started the day being a wine fan and now I know so much more and even appreciate it more! Thanks so so much to Bryan and all the wonderful people in the Hunter. Remember to buy as much and you can fit in your car and you won’t regret it! Book now and have a lovely day!

BJ picked us up on time then over the course of the day took us to 5 wine cellars. The day included wine tasting, wine matching with cheese and chocolate and a delightful lunch at a perfect spot (Audrey Wilkinson’s) where the views were spectacular. The tour concluded with a trip to the local beer brewery which was both informative, and a welcome break from all the wine!
This was a full days trip which was well worth the cost. The participants were all very friendly and made for an excellent day. Don’t look any further, this trip is fantastic.

As someone who is generally the designated driver when we’re vineyard touring, handing over the reigns to Craig, our guide for the Hunter Gatherer day, was a relief and an unmitigated delight. He was thoroughly knowledgeable and funny t’boot. The variety of treats we experienced on the tour were brilliant – from wines to cheeses to chocolates to beers to olive oils to kangaroos… we really couldn’t have asked for more. We couldn’t recommend this highly enough… do it, seriously, you won’t regret it!

We had such a great time today with BJ. Had a friendly group with us on the full day tour. BJ is definitely a great ambassador for your program. Had a few different tours, but Two Fat Blokes is our favourite. Will be back next year for our first anniversary!

BJ our tour guide and driver was such a great guy. There was 6 of us on the tour. Jessica at Mistletoe winery is a must to chat and visit. She was so knowledgable and explained how to taste and the quantity that we would drink on the tour. No push to buy on this tour, just a big emphasis on having fun tasting wine and cheese. Warning, book the full day tour cause you don’t want to get off. PS, I hate doing tours, but this was fantastic, you won’t be disappointed.

We visited the Hunter Valley with a group of friends on 11th December and did the Hunter Gatherer’s Full Day Tour. Our guide Andrew was informative, helpful and entertaining all day (even with the ‘dad’ jokes). The transport was air conditioned and very comfortable for 8 people. We visited 5 boutique wineries and appreciated being able to explore smaller family owned vineyards – Mistletoe was our favourite! The cheese and wine matching was a particular highlight, along with lunch with a beautiful view at Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard. It was a big day with lots of wine consumed but Andrew took good care of us and the day is well set out to balance food with wine. My husband the beer lover was particularly happy to end the day with a brewery tour as well. We will always choose Two Fat Blokes for our tours – they have been consistently fabulous over the years we have toured with them and we always learn or taste something new. Thanks for a wonderful day!

We were a group of 7 ladies out for a fun girls weekend for the Hunter Valley Wine Festival and we booked the Half Day Snapshot Tour. It was really well organised from start to finish; reminder texts and emails leading up to the date, text to confirm pick up time on the day and of course who could forget our Awesome driver Brian! He was so informative, funny and we all loved his dad jokes! He really took care of us from start to finish, and we enjoyed everywhere we went and tasted! Thank you for making our girls weekend so special! We all came back to the “Clown Plaza” in very good spirits.
You can’t go wrong with this tour company! One of the best!

So much fun! Our tour guide, Julie knew the Hunter (and all the residents) like the back of her hand, very friendly and funny, she created a relaxed atmosphere. As a young couple (20 and 21 years old) with very, very little knowledge on wine at all, the tour was not one bit intimidating or boring, it was a lot of fun. Julie went to lengths to make the day comfortable and was flexible to our own preferences.

We did a 1/2day wine tour on a Saturday morning and it was fantastic. It ticked all the boxes. Lovely driver, small group, generous wine tastings with knowledgeable hosts at boutique wineries, great variety in terms of choice of vineyards and wines on offer and to top it all off the tour ended with a cheeseplate and matching wines – heaven!

Beautiful day out, stopping at 5 cellar doors and a brewery. It’s the second time we’ve done this tour and it was every bit as good as the first. Phil was an entertaining and knowledgeable guide.

We had a great afternoon with the Two Fat Blokes. It was unbelievably hot (49 degrees) but the guide Andrew was helpful and informative, the wineries terrific and we particularly loved the wine and cheese matching part of the afternoon. So much so that we came back the next day for lunch.

Four of us attended the afternoon cheese & wine tour. We were picked up on time, proceeded to two other nearby locations to collect the other people on the tour (the vehicle holds 8 passengers). We then had a very pleasant 3 hours visiting 2 wineries and the Two Fat Blokes Kitchen. Our driver and guide, Brian, was friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. We tasted some great wines, ate some fantastic cheese, and learnt a bit as well. Highly recommended, and good value.

The half day snapshot tour was great. Just the right amount of time to see and visit three lovely wineries. Robyn was an enthusiastic and enjoyable host. The van was a very comfortable Mercedes Benz with white leather seats and speakers to hear what Robyn had to say. The cheese and wine tasting at two fat blokes/de illuis winery was fabulous. Every cheese and wine was just delicious. We couldn’t help but buy quite a few things. Thanks again for a fun day.

We did the full-day tour and it was incredible fun. A full day of too much wine, cheese, chocolate, food and beer. There were about 13 friendly people on our tour, all having a great time, complete with end of day sing-a-long.

It was the hottest day in recent memory, 41C, but the Two Fat Blokes bus was totally air-conditioned and extremely comfortable as was each venue we visited.

Huge thanks to BJ, our friendly, knowledgable and generous host. He ferried us to each location and looked after our clumsy selves (one lady on the tour left her phone at a previous venue and he didn’t hesitate to return to pick it up during our next tasting, and I left my iPad on the bus at the end of the day and BJ arranged to have it returned to me at my convenience. Super grateful!)

It really is a great wine tour service and we would do it again.

BJ is the bomb! He’s so knowledgeable, friendly and funny. You’re sure to have a great day with this tour company, they take you to some great vineyards that are away from the big crowds. You’ll finish the day having sampled a huge selection of Hunter wines, cheeses, chocolates and beers. The bus is super comfy and spacious.

I took my father to the half day tour and it was incredible! BJ, out tour guide, knows so much about the history of hunter valley and the vineyards! The wine and cheese matching was exceptional and I can’t wait to do the full day tour!

We booked the Two Fat Blokes Half Day Snapshot tour as part of a weekend away in the Hunter Valley for our wedding anniversary and we had a wonderful time. Our guide Andrew was friendly and knowledgeable and the wineries he took us to had the most wonderful stories. The highlights were the wine & cheese experience and visiting Mistletoe Wines. We definitely recommend this tour and will be visiting again!

I wanted to give my mother a birthday to remember and the two fat blokes provided that and some. BJ our guide was very in tune with our needs and what we liked to see. He let everyone he new (and they were many) that it was mums birthday any she was looked after. Besides that I would recommend this tour to everyone, you will love it and want to come back again. We used Two Fat Blokes for our Half Day Snapshot wine tour for our Work Christmas party. We had B-Ryan as our driver and he was excellent! Very well informed and funny. Would highly recommend them to anyone wishing to go on a wine tour in the Hunter valley!

Phil was our brilliant tour director who guided us around the Valley to many wineries and very soon our group of 12 warmed up as the wine flowed and a merry time was had by all. The 4 Scottish nurses were fantastic and had my wife and me in fits of laughter with their broad Scottish ascents and amazing humour. The matching of the Wine & cheese at the 2 Fat Blokes restaurant was a highlight among many others. Well planned and tastefully done by two clever blokes – no wonder they now have 9 vehicles. In particular Phil’s good humour added to the all round great day.

My partner and I booked a half day tour as it was the first time going on a wine tour and didn’t know what to expect! We could not be happier with our choice and had an incredible experience! We are from Newcastle and spent the weekend in Pokolbin and it was well worth the drive! It was the most incredible scenery and had the best time! We would definitely recommend it for anyone!

We booked an afternoon half day tour as we already had bookings for the morning. Our wonderful tour leader Julie was incredibly bright and bubbly, and was full of fantastic historical knowledge of the area. We visited 3 different wineries and finished off with a delicious cheese and wine tasting. Afterwards, Julie decided we hadn’t seen enough of the area and took us to a higher point where our group could enjoy a dusky view of the vineyards. All in all, it was fabulous afternoon and will definitely be booking a full day tour next time.

We did the Hunter gather day tour $165pp, worth every penny. What an excellent day out. Large comfy vehicle, Phil was our host and he really knew his stuff about the area and wines. Loved the wine and cheese and the chocolate and wine tasting and lunch was great. Next time we are in the Hunter we’ll definitely be doing another tour with the Two Fat Blokes.

A well organised and informative tour. We had only 6 visitors and BJ was a knowledgeable and interesting guide. The wineries we visited had staff who were well able to explain the region and the wines. The food pairing was well done and a great opportunity for folks from a non-wine region to expand our knowledge and palate.

We took the four hour wine tour in the hunter with glen. Thanks for a great little tour great vineyards. Tour is long enough to get in enough wineries. Plenty of time at each vineyard to relax and enjoy wine tasting. Each vineyard had experts at hand who new their wines thoroughly. Great day thanks Glen.
